Near the headquarters of the park in Dinsho some lowland forests and valleys with various rivers and waterfalls can be found. This region is located between 2500 and 3300 meters above sea level. Both on the open plains and in the forests we were able to spot the imposing mountain nyala (Tragelaphus buxtoni). The mountain nyala was the last big antelope discovered by scientists. In the Bale Mountains there are still an estimated 3700. Bergnyala's life in small groups and calves are born between December and March. Afterwards they stay with their mother for another 2 years.
