Kumarakom - Purple heron (India south)
The Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary is near the Vembanad Lake, the largest freshwater lake in the state of Kerala. It is the a part of the famous backwaters of Kerala and many species of migratory birds visit this place. We spotted a purple heron (Ardea purpurea) while catching a fish.
