Ksar Ouled Soltane Tataouine located in the south of Medenine is a small town which still has a beautiful well preserved ksar. 'Ksour' is the plural for 'ksar', a traditional mud-and-stone structure which were built by the Berber people and used as forts, houses and communal granaries. A ghorfa is a network of small chambers that were used to store grain and palm and date oil. The oldest ghorfa of Ksar Ouled Soltane dates from the 15th century and the youngest from the 19th.
