A female green spiny lizard in San Gerardo de Dota, a valley with cloudforests in Talamanca mountains in Costa Rica. The green spiny lizard has bright green colors, with males typically being more striking than females. They grow from 15 to 20 cm in length. These lizards are are diurnal and in the early morning they forage for insects, and then spend much of the day basking in the sun.
