San Gerardo de Dota - Closeup magnificent hummingbird (Costa Rica)

Closeup of a magnificent hummingbird (eugenes fulgens) in he valley of San Gerardo de Dota in Costa Rica. The magnificent hummingbird is a quite large hummingbird (11 - 14 cm). The adult male is green-bronze dorsally with a violet crown, a bright blue-green throat and the rest of the head is black with a white spot behind the eye. The main food of this hummingbird is nectar and sometimes some small insects.
