Most Kazakh boys in western Mongolia start learning how to use the eagles to hunt at the age of 13. It is the duty of the eldest son to continue the tradition. But times are changing and some young men are leaving their parents and do not continue the old traditions. As a result, nowadays some fathers teach their young daughters the art and skills of the eagle hunter tradition.
This is Ashol-Pan a 13 year old lovely girl but also fantastic eagle huntress. During this festival a big part of the film 'The Eagle Huntress' was recorded by director Otto Bell. This documentary film was released in 2016 and tells the story of Ashol-Pan.
