Lower Zambezi - Nile monitor (Zambia)
A lot of Nile monitor lizards were crawling around on the riverbanks of the Zambezi. Water monitor lizards (Varanus niloticus) are very good swimmers and they can stay underwater for half an hour. They will eat practically anything: insects, reptiles, frogs, small mammals, birds and also the eggs of crocodiles.
