The lion-tailed macaque's outstanding characteristic are the silver-white manes around the head. They have a body length of 42cm to 61cm. They live in large groups and feed on a large variety of fruit trees. The lion-tailed macaque is one of the most threatened primates and it is estimated that there are only 3000 to 3500 animals in the wild.
