Daroji - Sloth bears A sloth bear (Melursus ursinus) is a nocturnal animal that is quite shy and nervous. They feed on termites, bee colonies and fruits. We went to the Daroji Bear Sanctuary near Hampi. From an observation tower on a hill you have an excellent view of the hills and rock formations of this nature reserve. We were lucky because in the late afternoon we saw a female sloth bear with two cubs running around and afterwards we also spotted a male sloth bear.
