The 13th-century castle of Grinzane Cavour stands on top of a hill and is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The medieval character has been perfectly preserved and it is now a museum, enoteca and restaurant. All around the castle are vineyards and the view is beautiful. The statesman Count Camillo Benso of Cavour lived there for several years and played an important role in the Italian unification (1861), was the architect of the Italian constitution and became the first prime minister of a unified Italy.
