In January 2024, I went to Kenya on safari for 10 days with my wife. We started our trip with the lakes in the Rift Valley with a wonderful boottrip on Lake Naivasha where we could spot many hippos, herons, kingfishers and at least 50 fish eagles. Next day we did a game drive through Soysambu near Lake Elementaita where we enjoyed watching flamingos, pelicans, fighting zebras, a large group of giraffes and lots of birds. We also spend a day in the beautiful national park of Nakuru around Lake Nakuru. Here we were able to photograph lions, our first rhino and many bird species.
Then we stayed for 5 nights at the beautiful Glamping Kenya at the foot of Mount Kenya. We made an intensive day hike to an altitude of 3770m on Mount Kenya with its specific Afro-Alpine flora and we also came across some rock hyraxes. We did a walking safari and made and did some game drives in Solio, where we were able to spot at least 100 white rhinos and a number of black rhinos. Of course we also saw baboons, colobus monkeys, green vervet monkeys, waterbucks, impalas, Thomson gazelles, oryxes, elands, hartebeests, buffalos, giraffes, zebras, jackals, warthogs, ... In Ol Pejeta we see large groups of buffalos and zebras, some elephants and a family of lions. And during a final night game drive in Solio we followed a lioness with some cubs, what a beautiful end to our trip.
