Munnar is located at the confluence of three mountain rivers at an altitude of 1600 meters above sea level. The town is one of the main centers of the tea industry of the state Kerala. Munnar is a popular tourist destination with its enchanting landscapes with vast tea plantations, colonial bungalows, streams and waterfalls. Previously this 'hill station' was used by British colonists as a summer retreat to escape the heat of the lowlands. The pleasant cool climate is ideal for growing spices, coffee and tea.
