Monterosso al Mare Monterosse al Mare is the northernmost village of the Cinque Terre, the largest and the only one with a sandy beach. Like the other villages of the Cinque Terre, it is difficult to reach by car, but it does have a train station. The village is split in two by a protruding rock, with a monastery on top. We arrived there after a beautiful walk from Vernazza. Stefan Cruysberghs
