Kisima - Samburu lmuget ceremonies Every 6 to 10 years the Samburu clans organise a lmuget ceremony for the transition to the next age set. Boys are circumcised and become moran (warrior). The older moran become mzee (wise man) and they allowed to marry. These ceremonies are rarely attended by Westeners, but thanks to our guide who is good friend of a Samburu, we were able to attend some ceremonies near Kisima at end of August. The rituals start with the slaughter of many cows and goats. We had a fantastic and unique day. Stefan Cruysberghs
