Kirindy - Mating fossas (Madagascar)
The fossa (Cryptoprocta ferox) is a cat-like, carnivorous mammal that is closely related to the mongoose family. This strange animals is endemic and the only predator in the Madagascar. What a fascinating event! We saw them during the day but also at night when they were mating high up in a tree. Fossas mate during 2 weeks in October and November. The female will mate with up to 10 males spending up to 40 hours.
