The breeding season of the quetzal is from March to June. The quetzal often nest in holes that are left by woodpeckers. Both parents take turns at incubating with their long tail feathers folded out of the hole. When the eggs hatch, both parents take care of the young, feeding them fruit, insects, lizards, and small frogs.
