Photos Costa Rica
In March 2014 I went with my girlfriend for 17 days to Costa Rica, a real paradise for nature lovers and wildlife photographers. Our checklist was quite impressive with more than 100 species of birds, 20 mammals, 20 reptiles and amphibians and many colorful fish, butterflies, insects, ...
We started our jungle tours in La Selva Biological Station where we spotted a lot of animals like iguana's, frogs, monkeys, sloths, peccaries and many colorful birds. Then we went to the impressive Arenal volcano and its wonderful rain forests and saw many birds like honeycreepers, hummingbirds, toucans, motmots, ... A couple of days later we had a walk in Carara national park and a wonderful boat trip on the Tarcoles river and the mangroves. In Dominical and Uvita we did a dolphin tour and enjoyed the beautiful beaches of the Pacific ocean. After that we drove further south and in Sierpe we went by boat to Drake Bay on the Osa Peninsula. It was paradise with a great snorkeling trip and an exciting day in the rainforest of Corcovado national park were we saw a tapir, agouti, monkeys, iguana's, macaws, guans, ... We ended our trip in the mountains and the valley of San Gerardo de Dota. There we explored the cloud forest and spotted the quetzal, the most beautiful bird of Central America.
